Home Visits
GPs at our practice may initiate a home visit where required. Home visits are available to patients in rare occasions that are appropriate to the nature of the care and are at the discretion of the treating GP. The treating GP must assess whether it is a location that does not put themselves or the patient at any risks and ensure the appropriate care can be delivered.
The GP and the practice must assess the needs of the patient and the risks associated with home and other visits based on or using good judgment, and therefore finding this requirement fair and practical.
In general, if a patient holds a valid Medicare or DVA card, these services can be bulk billed for the time and day the consult took place.
